Tour Details
We invite you to book this wonderful all-inclusive tour, during which we will visit the city of Puerto Plata. You cannot miss it! It will be 5 hours of fun learning about Dominican culture, folklore, eating delicious food, tasting the local rum, seeing the sights and much more. We will take you in air-conditioned buses from Amber Cove, and you will be looked after by knowledgeable guides who will make sure you have everything you need.
Our first stop will be the Puerto Plata cable car, where you will travel to the top of Mount Isabel, which is at 2555/855 meters above sea level. There you can see amazing views of the ocean and the city below. You will also see a statue of Christ, which is a smaller replica of the one in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. You can take some time to enjoy the scenery and to take photos and also take a walk through the beautiful tropical gardens that are on top of the mountain. (You will spend approximately one hour and a half on this activity).
When we finish the visit to the cable car, we will get on the bus to go to the Ron Macorix House Of Rum. Here we will show you how the rum is made and aged, the story of why rum is one of the most important exports of our country, and you can also taste all the flavours that Ron Macorix offers! You can ask for more of the ones that you like most!
After Macorix House, we will go to the beautiful Malecon Ocean Drive (and visit the Fortaleza San Felipe if there is time), then we will head to a delicious courtyard restaurant to have lunch. We show you the menu in advance so we can pre-order your food and drink if you wish to save time. I assure you that you will love the tasty food and relaxed ambience.
When you have had lunch, we will go in the bus for a short journey to the Plaza Del Pueblo in Puerto Plata and look at the Victorian architecture and then take a walk down the street to Espigon Cigars, a cigar factory and humidor! We teach you about the history of tobacco on the island. You can also make a cigar for yourself and drink mamajuana made from our favourite local rum!
And there is still more to enjoy! For our Dominican culture, music is as essential as fish need water! And this adventure our country is not complete until you have danced a typical merengue or a bachata. We have local "taxi" dancers who will dance for you, and you can also learn some steps and enjoy until its time to leave.
NOTE: We require a minimum of 4 adults for the booking. All children coming on the tour must be accompanied by an adult.
Port Pickup Info
Meeting Point:
We have to pick you up at the main entrance of the terminal on the road. As it is an independent tour, the cruise lines do not allow us to pick you up inside the terminal. When we receive your reservation, we will send you the confirmation receipt with all the instructions, and a map so that you can easily find the meeting point. We leave for Puerto Plata 45 minutes after the boat docks, and it takes about 12-15 minutes to walk from the boat, so make sure you leave enough time to get there. We have coaches with AC and complimentary drinks and snacks to keep you going on your journey.

What To Bring
We advise you to wear flat shoes that are comfortable to wear when walking on sidewalks and uneven streets. No heels, please. Also, make sure you have some cash if you like to buy any souvenirs or additional drinks at the restaurant.
Important Information:
Don’t worry if your ship is late or does not come into port! We offer full refunds on tours not able to run for these reasons. If it is just a little late, or there are cable car delays, we will shorten the time at one of your stops to make up for the lost time, so you still get to enjoy the activity and get back to the boat before it departs.
